Below is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv prayer on Sunday night, the 2nd of Tevet 5786, Parshat Vayigash:
1. Now during Chanukah, everything doubles itself. As it is written in Hodaya 6.
2. The Kurds saw themselves in the spring instead of the mirror, Avraham saw Sarah for the first time through the spring, it is forbidden to look in a mirror.
3. Now everything is doubled, meaning if 13 girls travel to Uman, it is as if the whole world traveled to Uman.
All those who were killed on Simchat Torah entered directly into Gan Eden, but we want them here in this world.
4. A story of someone who swore to his wife not to remarry after her passing, and then the Maharshal permitted him. Immediately after the Sheva Brachot, he passed away. All of Lublin trembled, convinced that he died because of the oath. The Maharshal placed a note in his hand demanding the Heavenly Court explain why they took him since he had permitted the vow. An hour later, while in the grave, he suddenly came back to life.
5. If I knew that reviving the dead was like this, I would approach the grave of the Maharal with awe and trembling.
6. In the Gemara, Bava Batra 117, it is brought that Rav Kahana killed the informer and after his death revived him.
7. In Breslov, one must know how to move the sun. Even Methuselah moved the sun. Abba Tchinna Chassida had the sun shine for him.
8. R' Natan explains in Halachot Hodaya 6 "Iron and copper are your shoes" that shoes are made of copper and iron.
9. "And he dips his foot in oil" refers to the oil of Chanukah, that a person should see the miracles down to his feet. "A lamp to my feet is Your word and a light to my path."
