Awe-Inspiring Prayers about the War that Rav Berland Wrote Before his Imprisonment
OUR REBBE, RAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT"A, FORESAW IN AWE-INSPIRING PRAYERS THE HARSH PERIOD WHICH THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND THE WORLD ARE FOUND IN. BEFORE HE ACCEPTED ONTO HIMSELF THE DECREE OF IMPRISONMENT, ALONG WITH THE DISGRACE AND SUFFERING THAT WENT WITH IT, THE RAV SHLIT"A WROTE FOUR AWE-INSPIRING PRAYERS. WHEN WE GO BACK AND CONTEMPLATE AND SAY THE PRAYERS, WE SEE THAT THE RAV SHLIT"A FORESAW WITH RUACH HAKODESH (DIVINE INSPIRATION) THE FUTURE THAT WAS WAITING FOR THE WORLD AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE AMONGST THEM.Β THE RAV SHLIT"A, WHO FORESAW THE DECREES WHICH STOOD TO ARRIVE NOW WITH FULL-FORCE, WENT INTO PRISON IN ORDER TO PUT OFF AND CANCEL THE EVIL DECREE. The holy prayers deal with the painful issues which visit the world at the moment: 1. Β "To be rescued from the jealousy of the nations of the world and [that they should] never trouble us." 2. Β The wars which are happening in the world and the way to be rescued from them -- "Rescue and save me from the War of Gog and Magog which is being aroused and coming to the world." 3. The antisemitism which is intensifying in the world and the way to be rescued from it -- "In the merit of them not succeeding, and that we stand up in the test and accept everything with love, in the merit of this, may Mashiach come." 4. An additional prayer of Rav Berland shlit"a, in which is foreseen the war which is happening in the world -- the aliyah to the Land of Israel which is getting stronger in the shadow of events -- "Ribono Shel Olam, All-Powerful, give me the merit to ascend to the Land of Israel with great self-sacrifice. PRESENTED BELOW IS EACH OF THE FOUR PRAYERS IN ENGLISH ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL HEBREW. TO MERIT TO BE SAVED FROM THE JEALOUSY OF THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD, THAT THEY SHOULD NEVER BOTHER US. AND ALL THOSE WHO ARE HURTING US SHOULD DISAPPEAR FROM THE WORLD AND WE SHOULD ONLY KNOW A HOLY LIFE OF TORAH AND PRAYER Β Master of the world, who can do anything, merit me to be saved from the hatred of the nations of the world, from them, from their jealousy and from all their multitudes, and they should never be able to harm us until Mashiach Ben David = 435 comes and redeems us from them and guides us on the true path. And we should be able to learn Torah day (96) and night (81) =177 without stopping for a second, and our minds should never be distracted from the holy Torah for even one moment and all those who are hurting us should disappear from the world. And we should enter into a good life, to a life of blessing, to a life of Torah, to a life of prayer, and we shouldnβt know anything besides for the holy Torah and prayer. Save me and redeem me from the war of Gog Umagog which is quickly coming to the world. And may I merit being among those who fulfill three meals on Shabbos Kodesh with all the songs and melodies sung with tremendous dveikus and intense joy. Through this we will be saved from the war of Gog Umagog. So too, all the three prayers of each and every day, I shall sing and chant with great clarity and tremendous dveikus. And no word or letter shall leave our mouths without awesome kavana (intent), and without tremendous dveikus. No word or letter shall leave our mouths without love and awe, without tremendous dveikus 24 hrs. Everything should be with tremendous dveikus, with tremendous fear and awe, and tremendous joy. Through that we should merit complete repentance out of love, as it says, βAnd a Redeemer (40) shall come (9) to Zion (186), and to those of Jacob (184) who repent (348) from sin (450), so says (97) Hashem (26)β = 1340. And may I merit having sons from the breed of Tarshish (important stature), and may we raise them with the study of Torah without any difficulty, and may they always wake up at three oβclock in the morning to learn Torah, and to pray word for word with kavana (intent). Through this may the following verse be fulfilled through me, βAnd I will bring them to My Holy Mountain, and I will make them rejoice in my House (420) of Prayer (920)β = 1340. Now we are turning to You, with humble kneeling and prostration, help us Hashem our G-d, to come to Eretz Yisrael in the blink of an eye, and help us break all of the obstacles, and all of the postponements, for the main obstacle is in the mind.Β Β ΧΦ΄ΧΦ°ΧΦΌΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ±Χ ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ§ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧΦ° ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΦ°ΧΧΦΌΧ ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄ΧΦ°ΧΦΌΧΦΉΧ¨ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦΉΧ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΆΧ‘ΦΆΧ£ ΧΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧΦ°ΧΦΌΦΆΧ ΧΦΈΧ¦Φ΅ΧΧͺ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦ»ΧΦ°ΧΦ·Χͺ ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦΈΧ’Φ·ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΧ Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦ΄Χ©Φ°ΧΧͺΦΌΦ·Χ§Φ·Χ’Φ°Χ ΧΦΌ Χ©ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌΧ Φ°Χ©ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ΅Χ¨ ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ°Χ Φ΄ΧΧ’ΧΦΉΧͺ Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦΌΦ»ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΌΦ°Χ’Φ΄Χ§ΦΌΦΈΧ¨ ΧΦ°Χ Φ΄ΧΧ’ΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦΉΧΦ· ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ Χ¨Φ΄ΧΦΌΧΦΉΧ ΧΦΉ Χ©ΧΦΆΧ Χ’ΧΦΉΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌΦΉΧ ΧΦΈΧΧΦΉΧ, ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ΅Χ Φ΄Χ ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΦ°Χ‘Φ΄ΧΧ¨ΧΦΌΧͺ Χ ΦΆΧ€ΦΆΧ©Χ Χ’Φ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧΦ΄ΧΧͺ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ’Φ±ΧΧΦΉΧ ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦΌΦΈΧ Χ Φ°ΧΦΈΧ‘Φ·Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦΈΧ Χ¨Φ°ΧΧΦΌΧ©ΧΦ΄Χ Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦΌΦ΅Χ©Χ ΧΦ΄Χ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΧΦΌ"Χ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ·Χ©ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄ΧΧ¨ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΆΧ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΧΦΌΧ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ·Χ©ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄ΧΧ¨ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΆΧ Χ©ΧΧΦΌΧ ΧΦ΅ΧΦΆΧ¨, Χ¨Φ·Χ§ ΧΦΆΧΦ°ΧΦΌΦΉΧ¨ ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦΉΧ ΧΦΌΦ°Χ©ΧΦ΄ΧΧ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦ΄ΧΧ¨ΧΦΌΧͺ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΆΧ‘ΦΆΧ£ ΧΦΈΧΦ΅Χ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ·Χ€Φ°Χ‘Φ΄ΧΧ ΧΦ²Χ€Φ΄ΧΧΧΦΌ Χ€ΦΌΦ°Χ¨ΧΦΌΧΦΈΧ ΧΦ·ΧΦ·Χͺ Χ’Φ·Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦ΅Χ Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦ²Χ Φ΄Χ Χ’ΧΦΉΧΦΆΧ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ±Χ ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ§ ΧΦΌΦ°Χ©ΧΧΦΌΧ Χ Φ΅ΧΦΆΧ§ Χ’Φ·Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΈΧ’Φ²ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯Β ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ, ΧΦΌΦ΄Χ ΧΦ΅ΧΧ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΈΧ¨ ΧΦΌΦΉΧΦ· ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄Χ©ΦΌΧΦΈΧΦ΅Χ¨ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΈΧΧΦΌΧͺ ΧΧΦΌ"Χ ΧΦ²Χ€Φ΄ΧΧΧΦΌ Χ©ΧΦ°Χ Φ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ·ΧΦ·Χͺ, ΧΦΌΦ΄Χ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ Χ¨ΧΦΉΧ¦Φ΄ΧΧ ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺΦ΅ΧΧ ΧΦΌ ΧΦ²Χ©ΧΦΆΧ¨ Χ ΦΈΧͺΦ·ΧͺΦΌΦΈ ΧΦ·ΧΦ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺΦ΅ΧΧ ΧΦΌ, ΧΦ°ΧΦ·ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦΈΧ ΧΦ΄Χ¦Φ°ΧΦΈΧ§ ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²Χ§ΦΉΧ, "ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦΈΧΦ·Χͺ ΧΦΈΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌΧΦ°ΧΦΈΧ©Χ" ΧΦΌΦ΄Χ ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦ°Χ§ΧΦΌΧΦΌΦΆΧ©ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦΈΧΦ²Χ¨ΦΈΧ¦ΧΦΉΧͺ Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦΌΦΈΧ’ΧΦΉΧΦΈΧ, ΧΦΌΧΦΈΧΦΌ ΧΦΌΦΈΧΦ·Χ¨ Χ' ΧΦ±ΧΦΉΧ§ΦΆΧΧΦΈ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦΆΧΦ°ΧΦΌΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦΈΧ’ΧΦΉΧΦΈΧ.Β ΧΦΈΧ ΦΌΦΈΧ Χ', ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ΅Χ Φ΄Χ ΧΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧͺ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΦ°Χ‘Φ΄ΧΧ¨ΧΦΌΧͺ Χ ΦΆΧ€ΦΆΧ©Χ, ΧΦ·ΧΦ²ΧΦ΄ΧΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΌ ΧΦΆΧ ΧΦ·Χ¨ Χ§ΦΈΧΦ°Χ©ΧΦΆΧΦΈ, ΧΦΌΦ΄Χ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΈΧ¨ ΧΦΌΦΈΧ©ΧΦ·Χ ΧΦΌΦΉΧΦ· ΧΦ·Χ‘ΦΌΦ·ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄Χ©ΦΌΧΦΈΧΦ΅Χ¨ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΧΦΌ"Χ, ΧΦΌΧΦ΅ΧΦ΄ΧΧΦΈΧΦ° ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΧ‘ΦΈΧ, ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΦΈΧ¨ ΧΦ΄Χ©Φ°ΧΧͺΦΌΦ·Χ§Φ·Χ’Φ°Χ ΧΦΌ ΧΦΌΦΈΧΧ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΧΦΌ"Χ ΧΦΌΦ°ΧΧΦΌΧΦ°ΧΦ·Χͺ ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦΈΧ’Φ·ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΧ, ΧΦ°ΧΦ΅ΧΧ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ ΧΧΦΉΧΦ°Χ’Φ΄ΧΧ ΧΦΌΦ΅ΧΧ¦Φ·Χ ΧΦ°ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°ΧͺΦΌΦ·ΧΦ°Χ¨Φ΅Χ¨ ΧΦ΄ΧΦΌΦΆΧ, ΧΦ°Χ’Φ·ΧΦ°Χ©ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ Χ€ΦΌΧΦΉΧ Φ΄ΧΧ ΧΦ΅ΧΦΆΧΧΦΈ ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΦ°Χ¨Φ΄ΧΧ’ΦΈΧ ΧΦΌΧΦ°ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°ΧͺΦΌΦ·ΧΦ²ΧΦΈΧΦΈΧ, ΧΦ°ΧͺΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧ¨ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ Χ' ΧΦ±ΧΦΉΧ§Φ΅ΧΧ ΧΦΌ ΧΦΈΧΧΦΉΧ ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ₯ ΧΦ΄Χ©ΧΦ°Χ¨ΦΈΧΦ΅Χ ΧΦΌΦ΄ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧ¨ΦΆΧ£ Χ’Φ·ΧΦ΄Χ,Β ΧΦ°ΧͺΦ·Χ’Φ²ΧΧΦΉΧ¨ ΧΦΈΧ ΧΦΌ ΧΦ°Χ©ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ΅Χ¨ ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ°Χ Φ΄ΧΧ’ΧΦΉΧͺ, ΧΦ°ΧΦΆΧͺ ΧΦΌΦΈΧ ΧΦΈΧ’Φ΄ΧΦΌΧΦΌΧΦ΄ΧΧ, ΧΦΌΦ΄Χ Χ’Φ΄Χ§ΦΌΦ·Χ¨ ΧΦ·ΧΦΌΦ°Χ Φ΄ΧΧ’ΦΈΧ ΧΦΆΧ ΧΦΌΦ·ΧΦΌΦΉΧΦ·.
