Being with the Tzaddik who Passes through Judgment on the First Night of Rosh Hashanah â Daily Chizzuk
THE DAILY CHIZZUK BY MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLITâA SUNDAY, 10 TAMMUZ 5785 [1]Moshe is Yesod of Abba (Etz Chaim), and also the spies are Yesod of Abba. The spies were all the aspect of Yesod of Abba. Therefore, they didnât merit to enter the Land of Israel, because they were supposed to [2]descend from Yesod of Abba to Yesod of Ema, but [3]they didnât want to descend! Also Moshe Rabbeinu aâh â why did he send them at all? It says, âAt Hashemâs command,â but you know that they will speak lashon hara (evil slander). Because Moshe already understood [that the hearts of the spies were not whole, as alluded to in the verses], Setur ben Michael, Nachbi ben Vafsi â all of them were hiding (mitChaBim), all of them were secretive (beSeTeR). [Hashem said to Moshe,] âSend for yourselfâ â according to your understanding; I am not commanding you. And among them, [only] Yehoshua and Kalev [were saved and entered the Land]. Who are they? Why did they enter [out of all the spies]? Because they were Yesod of Abba. The spies were from Yesod of Abba. Because all those [from among the Jews] who entered the Land [in the end, [4]after forty years of wandering in the desert] were from the aspect of Rachel. The aspect of Leah is open miracles. The true Tzaddikim are from the aspect of Leah! It is written that on the first night of Rosh Hashanah, the Tzaddikim who are the aspect of Leah are passed [through judgment]. It is written in Shaar HaKavanot and Etz Chaim that whenever we are bound to Tzaddikim who are the aspect of Leah, we pass together with them [in judgment]. Therefore, whoever comes to Rabbeinu passes through together with him â even one who wanted to travel but was prevented! So whoever comes to Rabbeinu â who is the aspect of Leah â [as it is written] âLatur Et HaAretz (to spy out the Land)â (Bamidbar 13:17)  â this is âLeah.â âRechov Levo Chamat (the expanse at the approach to Chamat)â (ibid. 13:21) â this is âRachel.â Those who entered the Land were in the aspect of Rachel, âI said, âYou are angelic, sons of the Most High are you allââ (Tehilim 82:6). (The Rav says: Here, they [the attendants] brought Shaar HaKavanot.) [It is written there] that on the first night of Rosh Hashanah, all the Tzaddikim who are the aspect of Leah are passed through judgment. Leah corresponds to those who merit to revival of the dead. They donât die at all. This is the âluzâ bone. Luz is Leah. The Rebbe [5]explains in Lesson 85 (Likutey Moharan II) that the luz [alludes to the aspect of Leah, which is at the nape]. All the Tzaddikim who are the aspect of Leah merit to revival of the dead. They donât die at all. Rabbeinu didnât die. Rabbeinu lives and endures. We travel to Rabbeinu, and Rabbeinu lives and endures. So there are Tzaddikim who are the aspect of Leah and they pass through judgment on the first night of Rosh Hashanah. https://vimeo.com/1099069147?p=1s [1] âŚbut the illumination that emerges from Yesod of Abba into the interior of Zeir Anpin is the secret of Moshe. And this is what is said: Moshe is from the interior, and Yaakov from the exterior (Etz Chaim â Shaar Klalim 10 â Drush Yaakov vâMoshe MeYesod DâAbba) [2] The secret of descent that is the ultimate ascent. When one wants to leave one level of âNaaseh VâNishma (We will do and listen)â to the level of âNaaseh VâNishmaâ above it, there needs to be a descent before the ascent (Likutey Moharan 22) [3] One who is involved in materialism all his life, and afterwards is aroused and wants to walk in the ways of Hashem, the aspect of judgment makes an accusation against him and does not allow him to go in the ways of Hashem and arranges an obstacle for him, hiding itself, as it were, in the obstacle. One who is intelligent looks at the obstacle and there he finds the Creator, Blessed is He (Likutey Moharan 115). [4] âWhen Israel entered the Land, Kalev ben Yefuneh was 85 years oldâŚThat year, all those from the previous generation, upon whom the decree of death in the desert had fallen, died. Their children entered and inherited the Land.â (Midrash Tanchuma, Pinchas 13) [5] Likutey Moharan II, Lesson 85: Nuts called âluzâ allude to the aspect of Leah, who is at the nape, who is the first wife. Afterwards, they enter the Temple, which is the aspect of âYaakov called it Beit El,â and Rashi comments, âBy way of Luz, they enter Beit El.â
