By Looking at the Chanukah Candles, All Salvations Are Achieved • The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Below is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv prayer on Sunday night, the 25th of Kislev – the first night of Chanukah – 5786, Parshat Miketz:

1. Everyone should light candles for half an hour, just looking at the candles brings all salvations. All the candles are the secret of the Thirteen Attributes.
2. On Chanukah, we merit the Infinite Light.
3. Why did the miracle last specifically for 8 days?
4. Because Chanukah is the secret corresponding to the Simchat Beit HaShoeva, where they would doze on each other's shoulders, not sleeping on Chanukah.
5. Rabbi Natan says it's all thanks to Chana who prayed 890 years before Chanukah.
6. "And Chana prayed over Hashem" that she prayed above the Name of Hashem which is Zeir Anpin.
7. Adam HaRishon was sure the world was diminishing until Chanukah came. Then the sun began to delay its setting again.
8. Greece prayed "Yegar Sahaduta" that Greece would rule for 214 years, and this is also hinted at "Gera lo Yigar" which is written about the pig.
9. "He smote the loins of those who rise against him" Moshe prayed for the Greeks to win twelve hundred years before the Chanukah miracle.
10. Eli did not understand why Chana was praying the Amidah for four hours. He was sure she was drunk, 'Remove your wine from you' but in truth, she was righteous.
11. Chana merited the Infinite Light.
