Chanukah is the Time of Redemption • The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Below is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv prayer on Thursday night, the 29th of Kislev, 5786, Parshat Miketz:

1. Rabbi Natan explains that "And saviors shall ascend Mount Zion" all refers to Chanukah, as on Chanukah they judge the mountain of Esau.
2. Antiochus fought in Persia, stopped the war there, and decided to go to Jerusalem. The statue hints at the three battles that were Polanius, Silon, and Lysias.
3. Mattityahu agreed to slaughter one pig. In the end, he and his sons slaughtered one hundred thousand pigs (Greeks).
4. Rashi asks in Miketz why Judah speaks and not Reuben, since Reuben is the firstborn. The explanation is that Judah guaranteed the boy.
5. "Our birthplace" Rashi says that Joseph told them what happened to them even when they were infants.
6. The brothers asked why the viceroy insisted on a silver goblet when they brought him sacks of silver and gold?
7. And Joseph explained that they wanted to take the goblet to discover where Joseph was.
4. Chanukah is the abundance for the whole year, Chanukah is the time of redemption.
