CHASIDIC MUSICIANS YOELI KLEIN AND SHAYA GROSS REVEALED IN AN INTERVIEW ON RADIO KOL CHAI WHERE THE WORDS FOR THE MASSIVE HIT SONG âVEAFILU BEHASTARAâ [âEVEN IN A CONCEALMENTâ] CAME FROM. Yoeli Klein relates: âIn short, Shaya [Gross, his musical partner] finishes the song âEven in a concealmentââŚHere the song ends, so what do we do here? âWe have a friend by the name of Yechezkel Glick, a good friend shared by both of us, who said to us that he saw the words, âAlso behind the harsh things which happen to you, I standâ â he saw this in some Torah pamphlet.â Shaya interrupts the conversation and asks: âWhich pamphlet?â Yoeli Klein answers: âOf Rabbanit [Tehilah] Berland? Really?â Shaya answers: âYes.â Yoeli: âTo this day he [Yechezkel Glick] didnât tell me.â Shaya: âYes, the pamphlet of the Rabbanit of Berland! The words are from the pamphlet of the Rabbanit of Rav Berland!" Yoeli Klein returns to the creative process which brought them in the end to the unforgettable words of âVeafilu Behastaraâ: âYes, then Shaya composed the words and it came out, âAlso behind the harsh things which happen to, I stand.â And I say to myself, âWhatâs happening here? There is something good happening here! There is something good here!â Shaya: âWe didnât understand to what extent!â The interviewer asks: âYou didnât understand?â Yoeli: âMamash, no.â INTERVIEW: âI THINK ITâS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND TO WHAT EXTENT. EVEN NOW, THEREâS NO SECULAR, OR RELIGIOUS, ANY PERSON THAT THE SONG DIDNâT TOUCH HIM AND STRENGTHEN HIM SOMEWHERE IN LIFE.â
