Chidushim on Parashat Pekudei by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit”a
CHIDUSHIM ON PARASHAT PEKUDEI FROM MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A “THE SPIRIT OF MOSHE IS THE PILLAR OF CLOUD AND THE PILLAR OF FIRE” The Zohar says that even though we do not see the Temple with our eyes, the Temple exists, lives, and stands on its foundation. Whoever has eyes can see the Temple. The Zohar says that if we had the merit, then there is such a thing as “pukh,” a powder of “pukh,” and whoever merits it, puts it on their eyes, and they can see the Temple standing on its foundation! A fiery cloud is still surrounding it! As it is written at the end of this parashah (Pekudei): It is written, “Chazak Chazak V’Nitchazak.” We are reading this now; everyone should read the parashah by Shabbat. Everyone finish the parashah. Then this is what is written at the end of the parashah: “For the cloud of Hashem would be upon the Tabernacle by day, and fire would be upon it by night, before the eyes of all of the House of Israel throughout their journeys.” If we had the merit, we would see now the clouds of fire surrounding Jerusalem, surrounding the Temple, surrounding the Land of Israel. Because only the clouds of fire are what protect the Land of Israel. It is only the clouds of fire, the clouds of glory. They surround the Land of Israel and protect it from every enemy and accuser. This is, “For the cloud of Hashem would be upon the Tabernacle by day, and fire would be upon it by night, before the eyes of all the House of Israel throughout their journeys.” So the final letters of, “day, and fire would be (יומם ואש תהיה)” are “Moshe.” “Yomam (day)” is Mem, “V’Esh (and fire)” is Shin, “Tiyeh (would be)” is Heh. Because the spirit of Moshe is the pillar of fire. The spirit of Moshe is “and fire would be [upon it by] night (ואש תהיה לילה).” The spirit of Moshe [is the pillar of fire]! “Behold, the couch of Shlomo, sixty mighty men surrounding it” – then, this is the soul of Moshe, which surrounds us day and night! This is the pillar of fire that encircles us! “EVERY JEW IS THE NAME HAVAYA” So a person needs to be strong-hearted, full of momentum, full of energy, full of strength. When one learns Gemara, they should be full of strength – full of strength! The Gemara gives us the strength, the power, the fire from above! Every letter of Gemara is flaming fire! These are letters of fire, black fire on white fire! Every letter of Gemara is fire that fills our hearts! As a result, we walk and burn “day, and fire would be by night” – this is the pillar of fire! “A pillar of cloud by day, and fire would be by night.” “Hashem, our Master, how might is Your Name throughout the earth.” “Nations will fear the Name of Hashem, and all kings of the earth Your Glory.” “All the peoples of the earth will see that the Name of Hashem is called upon you and will fear you.” The Name of Hashem will be upon us! The Name of Hashem will be within us! [This comes to teach us] that every name of every Jew is the Name Havayah – it is the name of Hashem. Every Jew who has a holy name, this is called “the Name Havaya”! This is called the “Name of Hashem”! “See [Hashem] has called the name Betzalel (ראו קרא ה׳ בשם בצלאל)” – this the Name of Hashem!
