Dedication of Torah Scroll to Shuvu Banim - Nechamat Tzion

An uplifting event took place last week in our holy community with the dedication of a new Torah scroll, donated collectively by Am Yisrael to the institutions of “Breslov Shuvu Banim - Nechamat Tzion.”

The dedication of the Sefer Torah was held on Wednesday, Rosh Chodesh Sivan—the month in which the Torah was given to the Jewish people—and began with the writing of the final letters in the hall of the “Breslov Chochmah V’Daat” Yeshiva, with the participation of the community’s rabbis and members of the wider Jewish community. Upon the completion of the final letter, those present broke out in joyous and heartfelt song at the completion of the Torah, giving thanks to Hashem for the great merit.

Afterward, the procession set out with singing and dancing toward the Beit Midrash of Moreinu HaRav shlit”a. The Sefer Torah was carried under a beautiful canopy, accompanied by a large crowd with great joy. The procession was accompanied by a "Torah dedication vehicle" adorned with fine vessels and crowns, which played holy songs and added to the uplifting atmosphere. The route of the procession passed from the Yeshiva hall on Shmuel HaNavi Street, through Shivtei Yisrael, to Ido HaNavi Street—where the new Sefer Torah was greeted by the other Sifrei Torah, with powerful singing and stirring dancing.

At 8:15 PM, Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit”a came out to the balcony of his home, joined the celebration with dancing full of devekut and holy fervor, and later personally took the holy Torah scroll and danced with it in honor of the Torah and for the merit of the Jewish people. After nearly an hour, the Rav shlit”a gave a sign, and the crowd began reciting “Mizmor L’David, Havu LaHashem B’nei Eilim.” The Sefer Torah was brought into the holy ark with a great crowd and singing, accompanied by the words “Tehei HaSha’ah HaZot -- May this hour be an hour of mercy and a time of favor before You.” In a feeling of holiness and elevation, Moreinu HaRav shlit”a continued with Ma’ariv, with melody and pleasantness. After Ma’ariv, the procession continued to the new home of the Sefer Torah—the hall of the Kollel Hora’ah of “Shuvu Banim Nechamat Tzion” institutions.
