Guarding the Tongue - By the Esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a
The Rebbe says in Likutei Moharan Torah 54: "A talebearer is a fool," the moment a person spreads slander, the moment a person speaks lashon hara, he is a fool! He loses his intellect! Not only has he transgressed the prohibition of lashon hara, as the Chafetz Chaim says that one who speaks lashon hara transgresses 14 positive commandments and 17 prohibitions, totaling 31, and with all the details, it is endless prohibitions, but he also loses his intellect! The moment he speaks lashon hara about someone, about any Jew, even if it is true! But it is not necessary, only perhaps it seems to him that it is necessary... and Hashem knows the truth, Hashem knows if it is necessary or not, at that moment he loses all his intellect forever until he does teshuvah, the moment a person speaks lashon hara, he should know that the power of animalistic nature envelops him, the power of animalistic nature is jealousy, hatred, these are animalistic forces! He falls from a human to an animal! Not only has he transgressed all the prohibitions of the "negative" and "positive" commandments, but he simply becomes an animal, he cannot learn or pray, and why? Because he talks about this one, talks about that one, talks about Jews.
It is written that a person's words are measured, there is a limit to what he can speak! A person is given a certain amount of words to speak during his lifetime, and when he finishes them, his life ends, a person lives according to the words allotted to him! When a person speaks lashon hara, idle words, nonsense, he begins to lose what was allotted to him to speak! Which is not many, many years "May Hashem cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaks great things" besides transgressing endless excisions, he also loses the allotment of words given to him, and he can die prematurely, God forbid, he speaks, speaks, speaks, he is missing one word! He speaks more, he is missing two! His stock runs out!! His life runs out! Everything leaks, everything drips! He has no words left!! He has no life left!! Because a person lives according to the words allotted to him to speak! Conversely, if he speaks all day in words of Torah, words of kedushah, he constantly receives more merit! He receives more merit to speak! More holy words to speak! And through this, he receives more life.
Rabbi Natan says, did you dare to speak about a Jew? Did you have the audacity to speak about another Jew? Even if he is the greatest wicked person! What does he bother you? What? Will he take your store? Your livelihood? Leave him alone! What do you care about him? How do you dare speak lashon hara? And even if he is plotting against you! And wants to harm you! Even then, it is forbidden to speak lashon hara! Summon him to a halachic court, there are rabbis! There are ways to handle it. The moment you fail in speech, it shows deep decay inside! You lack patience, you lack the voice of melody, you lack the pleasantness, the peace, the simcha, if you had emunah, if you had simcha, if you had the pleasantness, you would not speak about any Jew!
The holy Arizal says, one who speaks lashon hara is reincarnated as a bee. If a person speaks lashon hara, he is reincarnated as a bee, because a bee buzzes all day, all day, and this one also talks all day! Therefore, his punishment is that he is reincarnated as a bee and buzzes all day, he has not a moment of rest! He is reincarnated as a bee and buzzes all day.
Every person includes all the worlds, every person includes all the worlds, all of creation, and in whatever he attaches himself, connects himself, he creates a new creation, when he learns Torah, he now joins worlds, he creates new worlds, and conversely, when he commits a sin, he separates the worlds the moment he speaks lashon hara, he separates all the worlds and all the abundance that was supposed to reach kedushah passes to the klipot! All the abundance, all the forces pass to the wicked! The one who speaks lashon hara is the reason Hitler lives and exists! Haman lives and exists! They all live and exist! True, they were killed, they were burned, but only their bodies were burned! They reincarnate in someone else in every generation.
If people speak lashon hara about the tzaddikim, listen to lashon hara about tzaddikim, saying this tzaddik is like this... he is like that... then their punishment is measure for measure, the same will be for them in heaven! When he comes to heaven, he will have billions of demons with lashon hara, and they will lead him in the world of chaos! He will believe everything they tell him! Because just as he spoke and believed here in this world to those who speak lashon hara, so it will be in heaven! He will have billions of lashon hara speakers, billions of harmful entities.
Every man, every woman can be prophets, every woman can be a prophetess, every woman can be a tzaddikah, if she prays, goes to the Kotel, says Tehillim every day, she can be a prophetess! She just needs not to speak lashon hara! She just needs not to speak about what the other does, that's all! "Do not speak haughtily" why did they do this.. and why did they do that..? And why are we discriminated against? And why is there favoritism? And why do they give this one like this? Do not speak haughtily! Be prophetesses! "Their mouth speaks arrogantly" you speak arrogantly! Arrogant words! Why like this? And why do they do like this? "Their mouth speaks arrogantly because Hashem is a God of knowledge" stop speaking! Leave everything to Hashem! Then every woman will be a prophetess, every woman will begin to see wonderful things, will begin to see from one end of the world to the other, instead of seeing what happens on another's plate, instead of seeing what another has, be prophetesses! See what happens from one end of the world to the other.
"A prayer of David: Hear, Hashem, righteousness, attend to my cry, give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit" (Psalms 17) King David would sing, he would chant, he would pray, without "deceitful lips" a person must know not to sing or pray from "deceitful lips" if you spoke lashon hara, spoke idle words, listened to some radio, God forbid, and then you come to pray, then it is deceitful lips! You are simply deceiving! A person must, before he prays, before he sings to Hashem, do Hitbodedut, do teshuvah for all the lashon hara, for all the idle words so that "my prayer is without deceitful lips."
