How to Go Get Married and to Not Become Separated -- The Daily Chizzuk with Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit"a
THE DAILY CHIZZUK WITH RABBI ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT"A -- "WE DON'T GET MARRIED FOR THE LUST -- HASHEM WANTS THE MASHIACH TO COME FROM A FATHER AND MOTHER" Tuesday, 6 Tamuz 5782 These are his holy words: It's forbidden to marry a woman because of lust. Rabbi Natan says that a wife isn't for lust -- it's to bring Mashiach. One needs to intend with this matter for the sake of Heaven. Then Mashiach will come. The woman is only a vessel to bring the soul of Mashiach. This isn't for lust. For physical pleasure -- it's forbidden. If you want physical pleasure, then [you] get separated. If you get married for physical lust, immediately [you] get separated -- this is the reason that [people] separate. Therefore, it's forbidden for a person to marry for the sake of lust. It's forbidden to be with his wife for the sake of lust, even if he's already married to her for 40 years -- it doesn't make a difference. It's forbidden for there ever to be a relationship of lust -- only to bring the Mashiach. Because Mashiach needs to come via a man and a woman, by way of a father and mother. Hashem could have made it so there would be a father alone, a mother alone, but Hashem made it so there will be both a father and a mother.
