About two weeks ago, the “U’Bacharta BaChaim – And You Chose Life” Chanukah gathering of the “Bnei HaNeurim” youth group took place, with the theme of abstaining from technological devices which destroy the soul of a person.

Here is a letter of chizzuk from Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit”a to the young men:

On the day that the Greeks were defeated and no survivor remained, it is an obligation upon everyone to abstain from all the technological devices that are new and being invented every day anew: telephones, music players, radio, internet, Xiaomi, smartphone, iPhone, and the all the rest of the evil plagues and horrible blemishes, the likes of which were not in the Generation of the Flood, nor in the Generation of the Dispersal [the Tower of Babel], nor in any generation, that there is no end to the new inventions of the Sitra Achra [the forces of evil], the Satan, and the Lilith, which seek in every possible way to penetrate the hearts of pure boys and girls, young men and women, who do not know to flee from them or to destroy them.

And this is the whole [cause of] delay in marriage matches, to [having] children, and to marriage.  And everyone must take onto oneself to smash their Xiaomi, smartphone, and iPhone for all eternity.  And no boy or girl should dare come close to these devices of destruction, that anyone who carries them will never leave Gehinnom, not in this world and not in the World to Come, and not during the Resurrection of the Dead.  For there they see sights that not even the Generation of the Flood nor any other generation saw.
