Prayer for Before Slichot and Erev Rosh Hashanah â Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa
TO MERIT THROUGH SAYING SLICHOT DURING THE DAYS OF THE CREATION OF THE WORLD TO DRAW DOWN SUPERNAL MERCY AND ABUNDANCE FOR THE NEW YEAR AND FOR ALL GENERATIONS, AND FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, INCLUDING THE SIN OF THE GOLDEN CALF âBEFORE SAYING SLICHOTâ Ribbono Shel Olam â Master of the World, Who can do anything, let me merit through the saying of Slichot with a broken heart and bitter weeping, to draw down abundance for the new year, from the beard of Atika Kadisha (the Holy Ancient One), âFor the world was built on kindness.â And through the saying of Slichot, may I merit to perform many acts of kindness, for on Kaf-Heh [the 25th of] Elul, the world was created, and on the second day, Hashem said, âLet there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate between water and water.â For through the saying of Slichot during the first six days of the creation of the world, we merit to the partition within Adam Kadmon [âPrimordial Manâ], which separates between the Name MaH and the Name BeN. For through saying Slichot, we merit to draw from the supernal kindness of Atik, which is concealed within the âbodyâ of Adam Kadmon, into the âbodyâ of Atika, that this is the concealed light of the Seven Days, which is concealed within the seven aspects of Atika Kadisha, that this is the secret of, âOn this day, all the fountains of the great deep burst open,â like the holy Zohar says in Parashat âNoach,â âAnd then the gates of wisdom will open up,â and there is the secret of the upper waters within Atika Kadisha, which are drawn from the Mocha Stima (the concealed mind) of Atika Kadisha. For through the saying of Slichot, we merit to the secret of, âYou made them all with wisdom,â âAnd from where will you find wisdom,â which is the secret of âAbundant Kindness,â the numerical value of Mordechai. For through the saying of Slichot, the secret of Yosefâs goblet is revealed, the numerical value of Mordechai and Esther, Matityahu and his sons. For through the saying of Slichot, we draw down the illumination of Chanukah and Purim, which is the illumination that is drawn from the Reisha Dela Ityada (the Head which is unknown), which is above the days and the attributes, and above all accusations. For through the saying of Slichot with bitter weeping and a broken heart, abundance is drawn from the head of Adam Kadmon by way of the primordial sea and the last sea, where all the abundance for all generations, until after the revival of the dead, [is found]. For through the saying of Slichot, it is possible to heal all the sick and to revive all the dead, And then, âHashem appeared to him in Alonei Mamrei,â the secret of the upper waters, that Moshe made everyone drink the waters of the Sotah (the wayward woman), with the water that came down from the mountain, in the secret of the lower waters, That through kissing the calf, it caused their lips to swell up, until they died from suffocation and starvation â all those who kissed the calf -- and only through the saying of the Slichot during the days of the worldâs creation, and Erev Rosh Hashanah, is it possible to sweeten all the judgments in the history of the world, as well as the sin of the calf.
