Prayer for Lesson 80 of Likutey Moharan by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit”a

Last week, Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlit”a wrote a prayer for Lesson 80 of Likutey Moharan, which is now being learned as part of the “Afuyim B’Libo” project.

Here is the complete prayer:

Prayer for Lesson 80

Malchut SheBi’Gvurah

Ribbon Shel Olam – Master of the World, Who can do everything, and that nothing can impede [Your] purpose from You, let me merit to fulfill what is written in Lesson 80 and to pray with the greatest self-sacrifice, word-by-word and every letter, and that no word should leave my mouth without kavanah (focused intention), and no letter without kavanah, God forbid.  And through this, may we unite Yaakov and Yosef, the secret of “Hashem builds Jerusalem,” because Jerusalem is the secret of the mochin (intellects), which we merit to only through prayer with kavanah and the greatest self-sacrifice, that one is prepared to give their life every moment and second for kiddush Hashem (the sanctification of God’s Name), and to die through every torture and suffering in the world, just like in Auschwitz and Treblinka, that the dogs will eat all my limbs, like what happened in Auschwitz and Treblinka, where they threw people live into the fire and to the dogs.

Because Yosef encompasses the feet and hands, as it is written, “Without you, no one shall lift up his hand or leg.”

Like Nachum Ish Gamzu, whose two legs were amputated and whose two arms were severed, whose two eyes were blinded, and whose body became filled with boils (Ta’anit 21a), due to the immense sorrow and anguish over having missed – by one minute – the opportunity to save a poor man he had encountered in the heart of the desert while busy with three donkeys loaded with food, drink, and delicacies.  So too, a person must always be careful, like Nachum Ish Gamzu, not to cause sorrow to any Jew.

And to always be like Yosef HaTzaddik, about whom it is said, “I am seeking my brothers,” because Yosef was composed of Chasadim (Kindnesses) and Gevurot (Strengths), because at all times, he only took care of his brothers – “I am seeking my brothers,” and he sustained them for 71 years [110 - 39], and on the other hand, he was not afraid to rebuke them for ever min hachai (eating a limb from a living animal), despite knowing that they would sell him.

But in truth, this was not ever min hachai, as explained by the holy Or HaChaim.
