RABBI BERLAND'S PRAYER TO FIND A GOOD CHEVRUTA TO FIND A GOOD CHEVRUTA (LEARNING PARTNER) Master of the world, Who can do anything, with the beginning of the new term, may I merit a true chevruta, like it’s written in the Gemara Temurah 16(a) on the verse in Chronicles 1:4:10, “Jabez called out to the G-d of Israel saying, ‘if you bless me and expand my borders, and Your hand is with me, and You keep me from harm, that I not be saddened’ - and G-d granted him that which he requested.” That I should merit a true chevruta, and if not then I am going to the depths of hell, because if I do not have a true chevruta, I prefer to die at that moment. Send me the best chevruta, and if not I will die for You, because I cannot live without a chevruta, like it says in the Gemara in Temura 16(a) regarding Otniel the son of Kenaz who is Jabez, who wanted to die in sadness, because he did not have a chevruta. And his real name was Yehudah, like Choni HaMa’agel who said chevruta or metuta (a chevruta or death) and then he died, because he didn’t have a chevruta for seventy years, and when he came after seventy years and didn’t find a chevruta he straight away died. Please Hashem, may I merit to learn Torah day and night = 177, without pause for a second or moment, and through this may we merit to enter with our bodies into Gan (53) Eden (124) = 177, like Serach (508) the daughter (402) of Asher (501) = 1411.
