Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa Votes âGimmelâ at the Opening of Ballot Boxes
Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlitâa voted early in the morning for âAgudat Yisrael â Gimmelâ for the Jerusalem municipality.
Immediately after praying at sunrise Rav Berland shlitâa left his holy home towards the ballot box at Rechov Karl Netter in Jerusalem, escorted by a royal convoy of vehicles. When he reached the ballot box, he reiterated his clear directive to the large crowd who had come to see the pure radiance of his holy face, to only vote for âAgudat Yisraelâ whose symbol is âGimmelâ for the Jerusalem municipality.Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlitâa entered the voting station, fulfilling the mitzvah of the day in voting for âGimmel â Agudat Yisraelâ and with the yellow ballot for Mr. Moshe Leon for mayor.
All the way out of the voting station, he held in his hand the ballot of âGimmelâ and repeated over and over that one must only vote for âGimmel.â The large crowd escorted him back to his home, singing âKi Orech Yamim VâShanot Chaim Yosifu Lach.â
