Shiur for Rishon LeTzion Residents at Home of Rav Berland Shlit”a

On Wednesday night, 17 Kislev, Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit”a gave a shiur to residents of Rishon LeTzion in his holy residence.

Below is a summary of the topics which the Rav shlit”a discussed:

The Rav shlit”a began the shiur by addressing the question of the Ramban regarding how Yaakov didn’t go himself to free Dinah and kill the entire city of Shechem.  Later in the lesson, the Rav shlit”a referred to the first comment of Rashi in Parshat Bereishit, that if the nations of the world say to Israel, “You are bandits because you conquered the lands of seven nations,” they should say to them, “The whole world belongs to the Kadosh Baruch Hu – He created it and gave it to whomever He pleases.  With His will He gave it to them, and with His will, He took it from them and gave it to us.”  Later in the shiur, he once again discussed the words of the Ramban, this time about how the Hasmoneans (Maccabees) erred in taking the kingship, because “The scepter shall not depart from Yehudah” – the kingship belongs only to Yehudah.  He also discussed at length the Ramban there, that the main reason for our fall into the hand of Edom was when we went to make an agreement with Rome. Later in the shiur, the Rav shlit”a discussed the theft of the goblet and the disparagement which Binyamin received from his brothers, who really thought that he had stolen the goblet.  While discussing the sale of Yosef, the Rav said that a person needs to know that everything that happens to him is because of “I am Yosef” – because of the sale of Yosef. The Rav shlit”a concluded the shiur after close to fifty minutes, saying that all the miracles are in the merit of Binyamin and that in the merit of the tribe of Binyamin, we will merit to a complete redemption speedily in our days, Amen!
