Shiur to Savyon Residents at Home of Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa
On Monday, Parashat Yitro, the night of 13 Shevat, a shiur was held for residents of Savyon and its surrounding communities at the home of Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlitâa.
Here is summary of the subjects covered over the course of the shiur:
There was a dispute between Achashverosh and Vashti about in whose merit they reined over 127 countries. The Gemara in Megilah calculates the seventy years that would pass until the Temple would be rebuilt. Daniel advised Belshetzar to open his treasuries to the Jews to atone for having used holy vessels. Everyone needs to read stories about the terrible Holocaust. Eliyahu HaNavi killed 300 of Achavâs soldiers and afterwards entered the cleft of the rock. Eliyahu requested the mouth of Moshe, and therefore, he is sent to britot, so he would be like an infant. All the work of a person is to be like an infant all oneâs life, like Moshe Rabbeinu, âLike a suckling child at his motherâs side, like the suckling child is my soul.â The Rama brings in 299:10 that every Motzaâei Shabbat, one should draw water, and these are the waters from Miriamâs well, which circulates in all wells. A person needs to arrive home calm, to eat a falafel before arriving home, so that he wonât scream at his wife. The Rabbanit would travel all day just to get everyone to repent, in Ahisamakh, Or Yehuda. The doctor said that we wouldnât have children. I had a broken heart and prayed Maariv for a whole hour. Precisely then, we received a response that was positive. Anyone who eats the Melave Malka meal will rise at the Revival of the Dead, because the âLuzâ bone is nourished only from this meal, and from this bone, people will arise at the Revival of the Dead. The Tzaddik rules over all the upper worlds and lower worlds; he rules over all the worlds. All the queens would kill their husbands. On Simchat Torah, all the lookouts reported that the border fence was being breeched, but they didnât listen to the warnings that were sent. Sancheriv saw that everyone was learning Gemara and Torah and said: I will send to you horses that will fight me. There was a dispute between Achashverosh and Vashti about in whose merit they reined over 127 counties. They said, âLetâs hold a feast and see who will be victorious at the end of the feast.â They held a feast for 180 days, and they didnât hang anyone. Then they said that because the Jews didnât come, they would hold a feast for an additional seven days, which would conclude on 15 Nisan. Vashti said that she couldnât come to the feast because precisely that day was the yahrzeit of Belshetzar. Really, âthat was decreed upon herâ was that she grew a tail, because she abused Jewish women. Chizkiyahu had three miracles performed for him: 1. Yeshayahu said that he would die and not live, and in the end he continued to live; 2. Hashem struck down Sancherivâs army; 3. The sun moved backwards for him. Hashem told him, âStart dancing,â but he didnât want to. He said, âIâm not from Shuvu Banim.â Hashem told him, âBecause youâre not from Shuvu Banim, you missed out.âAfter a shiur of close to an hour, Moreinu HaRav shlitâa concluded and went out to pray Maariv with the congregation.
