The 'Beitar Illit' Youth Group at the Residence of Our Teacher, the Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

As every year, a special gathering is held with the participation of our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, for the young men of the 'Youth Group of the Shuvu Banim Community' at the Beitar Illit branch.

The gathering took place, as mentioned, at the holy residence of our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, on Thursday night, the eve of the 15th of Kislev – the yahrzeit of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi zy"a. Initially, the young men sang heartfelt songs together with our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, and afterwards, our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, began his holy discourse, which lasted close to half an hour, filled with fiery words.
Below is a summary of the topics mentioned by the Rav shlit"a during the gathering:

1. The main thing is to study Gemara, as this is the only way to be saved from all the smartphones and iPhones.
2. Rashi writes in Parshat Vayeshev "with him to him" and it is not understood, is Rashi teaching us a linguistic interpretation? Rather, it is brought in Nitzotzot Shimshon that Rabbi Shmuel bar Nachman knocked on Rashi's grave to know this secret, and Rashi revealed to him that the dispute between the brothers and Yosef was the same as the dispute between the angels and the angel Metatron twenty-two years before the creation of the world, whether to create the world.
3. Esau did not agree to allow Jacob to be buried in the Cave of Machpelah, claiming that the sale of the birthright did not include the burial. So Naftali jumped to Egypt to bring the sale contract. Meanwhile, Chushim, the son of Dan, who was deaf, understood that Esau was the problem and decapitated him.
4. Adam HaRishon saw the days getting shorter and was crying and fasting because he was sure the world was ending. Then on Chanukah, he saw the sunset starting to delay again, so he made Chanukah twice. The nations turned it into Saturnalia – the festival of fire.
5. Yosef asked the brothers "Do you have a father or a brother?" because he wanted to know how they lit the Chanukah candles, whether like Beit Hillel, one by one in order, or like Beit Shammai, starting with eight and decreasing.
6. It is written "And Deborah, Rebecca's nurse, died" – who cares when Rebecca's nurse died? Rather, it comes to teach us that Rebecca died at the age of 133.
7. Rebecca was greater than Isaac because she saw the truth that Esau was wicked. Whereas Isaac saw the root of his neshamah (soul) which was on the left side of Jacob, and the Heichal HaBerachah writes that if he had done teshuvah (repentance), he would have been greater than Jacob.
8. Eliezer did not understand from the most sinful place in the world why not take his daughter who was raised on the knees of Sarah our mother. Rather, what matters most is whether the grandparents were tzaddikim, if the root is good, then even if Rebecca is placed in the most sinful place in the world, she herself is righteous thanks to the righteous grandparents.
9. Rebecca's candle never went out. The tzaddik lives forever, as we saw with Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi, whose yahrzeit is today, who would come home every Shabbat to make Kiddush, until the maid revealed the secret.
10. "See, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which Hashem has blessed" – Isaac smelled in Jacob the scent of the Garden of Eden. For whoever goes with the tzaddik merits the scent of the Garden of Eden!
