Through the Chanukah Candle One Merits Wealth and Descendants as the Stars of the Sky • The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Here is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv prayer on Wednesday night, the 28th of Kislev 5786, Parshat Miketz:

1. Now we are going to light the candle. Someone who slept all day can learn 12 pages of Gemara.
2. It is written in Likutei Halachot, Hilchot Shluchin 5, that a person who lights the Chanukah candle at nightfall merits children who will be Torah scholars like the stars of the sky and will also have an abundance of children.
3. The Yarchi Kallah writes that everyone can bring 600,000 children.
4. Like Rabbi Elyashiv who had 400 grandchildren, and the father of Bibi Netanyahu, who was the same age, had 12 grandchildren.
5. When a person recites the Parshat HaAkeidah, a heavenly voice goes forth and blesses him with all the blessings written in the Parshat HaAkeidah.
6. "And through you all the nations of the earth shall be blessed" – on Chanukah we see this fulfilled as all the nations light candles (like in the White House).
