To Hold Meetings Every Single Week – Letter from Rabbi Berland Shlit”a to Group of Avreichim of Shuvu Banim
As was previously publicized, it has been decided, bezrat Hashem, to establish a group of Avreichim (Kollel students) in our holy community, Shuvu Banim. We are now publicizing for the first time a letter from Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit”a which encourages the weekly meetings, and, likewise, the study of the book Chayei Moharan. Here is the full letter:
BS”D LSh”B BR”H LSh”M
A statement of chizzuk for Sichot HaRan, for weekly meetings, every single week. May Hashem be upon you and may you live!!!
Everyone is obligated to learn every day several sections of Sichot HaRan [“Rabbi Nachman’s Wisdom” in English] until they complete all the sections in Sichot HaRan and Chayei Moharan, and to conduct themselves according to what is written in Sichot HaRan. Weekly meetings must be held every single week to strengthen learning in Gemara, Kitzot HaChoshen, Netivot HaMishpat, Takfo Kohen, Sichot HaRan, Chayei Moharan, Likutey Moharan, Likutey Halachot, over all eight sections, and to speak every single week about serving Hashem and prayers with focused attention to Hashem Yitbarach, to come to all prayers, and every Ma’ariv prayer with the Rav which lasts between an hour and an hour and a half, and afterwards, to immediately go to sleep in order to rise for the service of midnight, and to learn Gemara from Chatzot until dawn, and then to prepare for the Shacharit prayer by going to the Mikveh, and afterwards to sing all the Morning Zemirot, and to recite all the Korbanot communally, because the morning Tamid atones for sins of the night, and the afternoon Tamid atones for sins of the day, because a summer day, from after prayer until Ma’ariv, is more than twelve hours, and then it is possible to complete every day twenty Daf (folio pages) of Gemara in depth and with proficiency with all the commentaries, Rishonim and Acharonim, until each person will be proficient in all of Shas, the 14 volumes of the Rambam, the 4 sections of the Shulchan Aruch and 4 sections of the Turim, and all the holy books like the Zohar, Etz Chaim, and all Likutey Moharan, Likutey Halachot, Sippurei Ma’asiot, Sichot HaRan, Chayei Moharan, and all their commentaries, and everything backwards and forwards, with proficiency and in depth, word-for-word, letter-for-letter.
With the blessing of the Torah and much love
Eliezer Berland
