To Increase Yearning - Words of the Esteemed Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland at the Mass Gathering in Bat Yam - Chanukah 5778 - "From David's Candles Came Melodies"

These are the holy words of the esteemed tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in a lesson he delivered at the Chanukah gathering in Bat Yam in 5778. "And the entire tribe of Reuven crossed the Sambatyon River, as it is written, 'Let Reuven live, and not die, and let his men be numbered' (Deuteronomy 33:6), the tribe of Reuven did not submit to the calves of Jeroboam son of Nebat. The tribe of Reuven fought with self-sacrifice, 'Zebulun is a people who jeopardized their lives to the point of death' (Judges 5:18). David hid in caves, David was pursued by all of Israel. David had no sin, he had no improper thoughts, and therefore his son Solomon built the Holy Temple. Because David played the harp all night."

"The harp is twenty-six candles, the candles of Chanukah. From David's candles came melodies, there is an angel with a thousand heads, a thousand mouths, a thousand tongues, a thousand voices, with a thousand melodies, the angel heard every second David fighting the battles of Hashem. David knew all the Gemara, all the discussions of Abaye and Rava, he was the first to compose the Mishnah and therefore he lives and exists forever."
