Update on Rav Berland’s Health

DURING THE PAST SHABBAT, PARSHAT EMOR, MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A WAS HOSPITALIZED BECAUSE OF A HEART PROCEDURE WHICH HE REQUIRED.  HIS GRANDSON AND ASSISTANT, RAV DOV ZUCKER, PROVIDES AN UPDATE ABOUT THE MEDICAL CONDITION OF THE RAV SHLIT”A: As mentioned, two weeks ago, the Rav shlit”a was hospitalized because of fluid being drained in his lungs, and also remained there for Shabbat Kodesh.  As is known, because of a growth which the Rav shlit”a had around seven years ago, a kidney was removed.   And there is something called “cardiac insufficiency,” that the heart produces a little bit of fat.  The kidney and heart are connected to one another, and the moment that one does not function properly, the other one also does not function right.  In the last two weeks, the Rav underwent drug treatment for the lungs.  On Wednesday, the Rav went to the hospital and there they made him an appointment for an echocardiogram.  On Thursday, the Rav underwent the check with consultation from a medical specialist.  On Friday, at 11:30 AM, the Rav underwent medical treatment on his pure heart, and the doctors requested to keep the Rav shlit”a in medical follow-up.  Therefore, he will not spend the coming Shabbat Kodesh, Parshat Emor [now last Shabbat, at the time of writing] at his home. We once again request, at all times, from the entire community, at all places, to increase their prayers and supplications for the complete recovery of Moreinu, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Ben Etiyah Berland shlit”a, along with the rest of the sick of Israel. UPDATE: IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY, TUESDAY, 13 IYAR, THAT THE RAV SHLIT”A RETURNED TO HIS HOME AND WILL ONCE AGAIN PRAY MA’ARIV WITH THE COMMUNITY.
