"Wait" -- The Best Virtue, But Not on the Account of Others -- Daily Chizzuk

NACHUM ISH GAMZU TAUGHT US THAT WAITING IS KETER (CROWN). NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY. THERE IS VALUE IN DELAY, IN PAUSE, IN GIVING TIME. IN LESSON 6 OF LIKUTEI MOHARAN, IT IS REVEALED THAT “HAMTEN (WAIT)” IS A GATEWAY TO A SUPREME ILLUMINATION—TO KETER. BUT PRECISELY FROM THIS ELEVATED PLACE, ONE MUST BE CAUTIOUS AND CLARIFY THE BOUNDARY: WHEN A PERSON IS HUNGRY, WHEN SOMEONE BEFORE YOU IS IN PAIN—NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR CROWNS. NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT. FOR EVEN “WAIT,” WHICH IS A TRAIT IN KETER, MUST SOMETIMES BE SET ASIDE—IN ORDER TO BE A HUMAN BEING. THE DAILY CHIZZUK FROM MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT"A WEDNESDAY, 8 SIVAN 5785 These are his holy words: Before Nachum Ish Gamzu unpacked the bundles (Taanit 21a), he said to the poor man, “Wait.” He told him, "Learn Lesson 6" (of Likutey Moharan). First of all, there is the Lesson of “Hamten”—that’s Lesson 6 in Likutei Moharan. He brought him a Likutei Moharan and told him, "Learn Lesson 6." Nachum Ish Gamzu said to the pauper, "Wait a moment, just a second, give me five minutes to unpack the bundles." A person is walking in the desert with his load for a week, a month—it’s all packed, everything is tightly bound. Without that, it would all fall apart in the desert. Nachum Ish Gamzu is tying the bundles—he’s walking with three donkeys laden with food and drink. How is he going to untie all that? He opened up Lesson 6 and said to him, "Hamten." Hamten is Keter. “Katar Li Zeir -- Wait for me a little” (Iyov 36:2).  The Aramaic word for Keter is Katar—wait, hamten, hamten. By the time Nachum Ish Gamzu said “hamten” to the pauper, the man passed away. The poor man—he went straight to Gan Eden. Because through “hamten,” one merits to Gan Eden. It’s not without reason—he saw that the pauper entered Gan Eden. So he wanted to enter Gan Eden too. He said: "My hands, which had no compassion for your hands—let them be cut off. My legs—let them be severed. My body—let it be filled with boils. My tongue—let it be cut. My eyes—let them be blinded." He became blind. What happened? What are you guilty of? You’re not guilty of anything! But until a person gives another food—if someone hasn’t eaten for three days, if someone comes from Uman and hasn’t eaten in three days—until you bring him food, until you make him an omelette... Bring him a drink right away—don’t wait even a second. What, just now I came from Uman.  He hasn’t eaten in three days, he hasn’t drunk in three days. Just from Kishinev to Uman is 12 hours, sometimes 18. If it’s from Budapest, it’s 24 hours; if it’s from Warsaw, it’s 36 hours. https://vimeo.com/1090296603
