When Really was the Acceptance of the Torah? -- Daily Chizzuk by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa
THE DAILY CHIZZUK OF MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLITâA â TUESDAY, 5 SIVAN, 5784 THESE ARE HIS HOLY WORDS: ALL HOLIDAYS ARE DESTINED TO BE CANCELLED EXCEPT FOR THE DAYS OF PURIM (MIDRASH MISHLEI 9:2). THEN WHAT, THERE WONâT BE PASSOVER? THERE WONâT BE ROSH HASHANAH? THERE WONâT BE SHAVUOT? Really, the intention is that the light of Purim will be revealed. Now we do not see the light of Purim. On Purim, the light of the truth is revealed. Purim is the day that everyone can get close to Rabbeinu, to understand the point of truth, to understand where is the true point, the absolute truth. Any judge who renders a judgment that is absolutely true is considered as if he became a partner with the Holy One, Blessed is He, in the creation of the heavens and the earth (Shabbat 10a). The world is sustained by those who go with the absolute truth, because there are many types of truth, but there is the absolute truth and it is revealed on Purim. On Purim, the absolute truth of âThey established and acceptedâ (Esther 9:27) is revealed. THE GEMARA SAYS IN TRACTATE SHABBAT THAT THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE TORAH WAS ON PURIM, âTHEY ESTABLISHED AND ACCEPTED,â WHICH IS A THOUSAND YEARS AFTER THE GIVING OF THE TORAH. It is asked: Why was there the churban (the destruction of the Temple)? Behold, if the acceptance of the Torah was only on Purim, âThey established and accepted,â then why was there the destruction of the Temple? Why are we in exile?! Here, the receiving of the Torah was only 960 years after this. 850 years from the entry to the Land, 40 in the desert and another 70 years in exile, because this was at the end of the 70; this is another 110 years. Therefore, the Tosofot ask, if only 960 years afterwards [after the giving of the Torah] was Purim, why did Hashem destroy the Land? For at Mount Sinai, there wasnât the true acceptance of Torah! On Mount Sinai, Hashem covered them with the mountain like an [upturned] vat. Israel screamed, âNaâaseh VâNishmah (We will do and we will listen)â; however, on the other hand, with one eye they looked at the calf â âYou have captured my heart, my sister, O bride, you have captured my heart with one of your eyes, with one bead of your necklace.â The moment that Moshe disappeared, they immediately thought about how to make the calf, because everyone worshipped idolatry except for three tribes â Reuven, Shimon, and Levi, who are written in Parshat VaEra. Shimon didnât worship idolatry; Reuven didnât worship idolatry; and Levi didnât worship idolatry. However, the remaining nine tribes all stumbled in idolatry. With Ephraim and Menashe, this is ten tribes. All of them stumbled in idolatry. They were in Egypt for 210 years, and little-by-little, they become intermixed with the gentiles, like before the expulsion from Spain; everyone was already heretics. Also, from the period from the entry to the Land until the churban, there it was already 850, and here it was 781. During these years, everyone was already assimilated. The Rashba wrote in âKeter Malchutâ that everyone [in his generation] assimilated. They laughed at him: What, you still keep the Torah? Like what happened, that everyone already married gentile women â âAnd the city of Shushan was bewilderedâ (Esther 3:15). Why âbewilderedâ? Because everyone had intermarried, like in the Holocaust, that half the people already intermarried. During Purim, there was already complete assimilation, and suddenly for three days, they didnât eat or drink. Within three days, they witnessed such a miracle, a complete miracle. Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin wanted to nullify the Holocaust. He knew that there was going to be a Holocaust.  After Tisha BâAv, Hitler ymâsh (may his name be obliterated) said that now he is going to annihilate all the Jews. He said this for seven years, day and night. The first thing, Iâm cutting off the Jews. Iâm conquering Europe. Iâm making a new order here; Germany is the Aryan race [in Hebrew: HaGeza HaAri]. âAriâ is not a lion. âAriâ is the language of radiating [as in âhaâaraâ] â the race that radiates the entire world, which is the projector of the whole world. This is called âari.â This is the chosen race and the other races are its slaves; and the Jews needs to be annihilated, because they are the race which opposed their race. There is Hitlerâs book, Mein Kampf, which was found with the terrorists, in almost every home in Gaza. Mein Kampf, where itâs written there that the first thing is to cut off the Jews. Therefore, itâs written that the decree of Purim was put off until [the year] Tav-Shin (5700/1940). Because [in] âParmashtaâ (Esther 9), the Tav and Shin are large. Also in âVaTichtov Esther â Esther wrote,â the Tav is large. A small Shin and a large Tav is Tav-Shin, the year 5700 â the decree to annihilate the Jews was put off to 5700. All the holidays are cancelled except for Purim. The Chatam Sofer writes that the mitzvah of simchah (rejoicing) on Purim is a Torah commandment, while the reading of the Megillah is Rabbinic. The essence of simchah is on Purim, to recognize the miracle, to give thanks for the miracle. We need to blow Shofars, trumpets â âsound the trumpetsâ (Bamidbar 10:10). The Chatam Sofer says that Hallel is a Torah commandment. However, on Passover, we only say âHalf-Hallel,â because âthe work of My hands is drowning in the sea, and you sing song.â If the âwork of My hands is drowning in the sea,â then itâs impossible to say Hallel, because the aspect of judgment accuses: Why didnât you get them to repent? HOW COULD IT BE THAT THERE IS SUCH A GENERATION AS AMRAM AND MOSHE, AND THEY DONâT REACH OUT TO ALL EGYPT? Because Amram divorced Yocheved, he already lost the ability to draw Egypt close. At the moment that he divorced Yocheved, his daughter said to him, âYou are worse than Pharaoh.â All of this is written in tractate Sotah. Miriam told him, âYou are worse than Pharaoh. What have you done to us? âPharaoh said, âYou shall throw into the river every son that is bornâ (Shemot 1:22), and you say that everyone should get divorced, all the Jewish people.â Miriam was a girl of five and a half. She came into the Sanhedrin and said, âWhat is this? How can you give support to such a thing?â Her father was the leader of the generation, as the Rambam brings in Shoftim, chapter 9, that the tradition passed by way of Amram, all the 613 mitzvot, the whole tradition, observing Shabbat and everything that they observed. Everything passed by way of Amram, and Miriam came and rebuked him. https://vimeo.com/956213797
