âWhy Ham Didnât Want Noach to Have More Childrenâ â Daily Chizzuk with Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa
THE DAILY CHIZZUK OF OUR REBBE RAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLITâA â WHERE DID NOACHâS DOVE DISAPPEAR TO? THURSDAY 19 TEVET 5783 â âTHE WHOLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND THE NON-JEWS IS THE PROHIBITION OF LUSTSâ These are his holy words: No person in the world knows where the dove [of Noach] disappeared to. Where did it go? The Zohar says, âI will reveal to you where it went â it was concealed in the chamber of Mashiach!â âFor You anticipate him with blessings of good; You place on his head a crown of pure goldâ (Tehilim 21:4). When Moshe will come for the mitzvah of the sacrifice and stand on the altar, then the dove will descend with a crown of gold and will place on his head a crown of pure gold. About this it is said, âBut I am like an ever-fresh olive tree in the House of G-dâ (ibid. 52:10). What is âan olive leaf plucked in its billâ (Bereshit 8:11)? This is the soul which Ham, that Canaan feared that soul. Itâs written that Ham said, âI will not allow my father [Noach] to bring this soul.â The children of Noach were three [Shem, Ham, and Yefet], and amongst the three there are arguments about inheritance. Now there will be four. How will we divide up the world? How can four people divide up the entire world? âEsav was furious at Yaakovâ (Bereshit 27:41). Why was he furious? What did he take from you? You received the entire world â you received the entire world. So we received here some desert? What did we receive? We didnât receive anything. So he [Yaakov] says, âI have acquired oxen and donkeysâ (Bereshit 32:6). I donât have anything. Oxen is Mashiach ben Yosef and donkey is Mashiach ben David. SO WHAT IS AN âEVER-FRESH OLIVE TREEâ? THE OLIVE LEAF IS THE SOUL OF MASHIACH. ABOUT THIS, THE SONS OF NOACH WERE AFRAID. BECAUSE THE MOMENT THAT MASHIACH IS REVEALED, THE TZADDIK IS REVEALED, THEN ALL THE LUSTS ARE FORBIDDEN. The whole difference between us and the non-Jews is the prohibition of lusts. This will happen with the coming of the King Mashiach. When the King Mashiach will come, it will be forbidden to do any lust, any sin, every transgression is forbidden â Ham was afraid of this. There is an opinion that Ham [is the one who] did this awful deed to Noach [that he castrated him so he couldnât bear more children]. In Pirkey DâRabbi Eliezer itâs written that Canaan did this, because if it was Ham, why would Noach curse Canaan? Therefore, according to Pirkey DâRabbi Eliezer, the one who did this awful deed to grandpa was Canaan, and from this it is understood why he cursed Canaan. Itâs written (Tehilim 52), âBut I am like an ever-fresh olive tree in the House of G-d. Ham was afraid of this, Canaan was afraid [depending on which one of the opinions you follow] â that if the King Mashiach will come, lusts and transgressions will be forbidden. The Gemara says in Sanhedrin that Ham said to his sons, âSteal as much as possible,â because of this Ham and Canaan were afraid â that now King Mashiach will come and all the lusts will be forbidden. It will be forbidden to steal. It will be forbidden to murder. Therefore, they did this terrible act to Noach. All of this is alluded to in the Zohar (165a), that âan olive leaf plucked in its billâ is the King Mashiach. https://ravberland.com/noach-an-olive-leaf-plucked-in-its-bill-mashiach-ben-david-rav-berland-to-shuvu-banim-miami/
