Why Rabbi Hillel Said: “There Will Be No Messiah for the Jewish People” – Daily Chizzuk with R’ Berland Shlit”a

“THE SINGING AND NIGGUNIM (MELODIES) SUNG BEFORE AND AFTER PRAYER ARE THE HIGHEST” THE DAILY CHIZZUK OF MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A -- SUNDAY, 7 AV 5784 ESTHER SAID TO FAST FOR THREE DAYS – THE DECREE WAS CANCELED, THEY HANGED HAMAN.  SUCH A MIRACLE ALREADY WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.  EVEN WHEN THE MESSIAH COMES, THERE WON’T BE SUCH A MIRACLE. Like Rabbi Hillel says: “There will be no Messiah for the Jewish people, because they already enjoyed [the Messianic era] in the days of Hezekiah” (Sanherin 99a).  What is the Messiah, that they already enjoyed him in the days of Hezekiah? IF KING HEZEKIAH HAD MADE ONE DANCE, HE WOULD HAVE BECOME THE KING MESSIAH.  SO HASHEM SAYS TO HIM, “START DANCING, SING!” Hezekiah answered: “I’m learning Torah.  Don’t disturb my Torah study.”  But singing is the highest.  The singing and niggunim sung before and after prayer – through them, the prayer ascends.  Through them, the Counting of the Omer ascends. In Breslov, the Counting of the Omer would take two hours.  They would prepare the Counting of the Omer for two hours.  Before the Counting of the Omer, they would finish all the Tehilim, would say “Leshem Yichud Kudsha Berich Hu U’Sh’khinatei, Hareini Muchan U’Mzuman [For the sake of the unification of the Holy One Blessed is He and His Divine Presence, I am hereby ready and prepared…].”  They would say for a whole hour “ready and prepared.”  After this, they would sing “Lamnatzeach Binginot” and “Ana BeKoach.” The Counting of the Omer took two hours, not less than two hours.  They would finish all the Tehilim.  So Rabbi Shmuel Hurwitz brings in the book “Yemei Shmuel.”  They would finish all the Tehilim before the Counting of the Omer with tears.  The Counting of the Omer [brings] all the bounty. “MAY ABUNDANT BLESSING BE BESTOWED” [FROM THE PRAYER AFTER THE COUNTING OF THE OMER].  PEOPLE SEE ABUNDANT BLESSING AND FLEE.  I UNDERSTAND; THEY HATE MATERIALISM.  PEOPLE DON’T WANT ABUNDANCE; I UNDERSTAND THEM.  BUT WHAT CAN BE DONE?  WE NEED AIR. If there is no flour, there is no Torah, so you need to focus [when saying] “abundant blessing,” to sing it for a whole hour, that abundant blessing will be bestowed so that everyone will have flour. Hashem created the world with flour.  Without flour, it’s impossible to live, even to eat an olive-sized portion, to eat something.  “This is the bread of affliction” [from Passover Hagadah].  They ate matzah.  They would eat matzah, only matzah.  For 200 years, only matzah.  One matzah a day – that was all the food. https://vimeo.com/996480814
