Youth Gathering in Preparation for Uman Rosh Hashanah with Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlitâa
âELIYAHU WILL COME ON ROSH HASHANAH TO ANNOUNCE THE REDEMPTION,â AND THEREFORE ONLY THOSE WHO WILL MERIT TO TRAVEL TO UMAN WILL BE ABLE TO BRING THE REDEMPTION. WITH WORDS OF HOLY FIRE TO THE âYOUTH GROUP,â MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLITâA GAVE OVER THE CONCLUDING SHIUR BEFORE THE TRIP TO THE HOLY GATHERING OF ROSH HASHANAH IN THE HOLY CITY OF UMAN. THESE WORDS WERE SPOKEN BEFORE THE HOLY KIBBUTZ OF 5784, AND ITâS NOT SURPRISING HOW RELEVANT THEY ARE TODAY. MOREINU HARAV BERLAND SHLITâA TEACHES ABOUT THE STRONG CONNECTION BETWEEN THE REDEMPTION PROCESS AND THE HOLY GATHERING ON ROSH HASHANAH BY RABBEINU NACHMAN IN UMAN. THIS PROCESS, AS MOREINU HARAV MENTIONS IN THE SHIUR, REACHED ITS FINAL STAGES AT THE GATHERING OF 5784, AND EVEN MORE SO THIS YEAR. From here, we learn just how important it is that Moreinu HaRav shlitâa will make it to the holy gathering in Uman. These are his holy words: ROSH HASHANAH 5784 (TAV SHIN PEY DALET) â (TAV) â TACHEL [WILL BEGIN], (SHIN) â SHANAT [A YEAR OF], (PEY) â PEDUT [REDEMPTION]. Dalet is King David, because on this Rosh Hashanah, the King Mashiach ben David needs to be revealed. Therefore, this Rosh Hashanah is a tikkun (rectification) for all reincarnations and events of a thousand years, because everyone has already been in the world for a hundred reincarnations. Everyone was at the Towel of Babel, everyone was in Sodom, everyone was in the generation of Enosh, when a third of the world became emerged [under water]. The generations of Sodom, the dispersal, Enosh, the generation of the flood. Everyone was in the flood, and one drowning wasnât enough. Because people would live for 900 years, like Yuval, who lived 900 years â âAnd his brotherâs name was Yuval; he was the father of all those who handle the harp and fluteâ (Bereishit 4:21). We [the Rav speaking to the youth group] today sang to Hashem Yitbarach, but from the time of Yuval, they only sang to idolatry. Noach was the age of 695. All the time that Adam HaRishon was alive, no one dared to speak nonsense. Sheth was born when Adam HaRishon was the age of 130. Enosh was born when Sheth was the age of 105, Yered at 235, Metushelach at 695. The Asarah Maâamarot [by Rabbi Menachem Azariah of Fano] explains all of this, that then he [Enosh] decided that he created the world, that he was created before Adam HaRishon and created Adam HaRishon.  This even lasted eight years, âThen to call in the Name of Hashem became profanedâ (Bereishit 4:26). âThen â azâ is the numerical value of 8, but âhis name is Enoshâ is the numerical value of 703. From 695 until 703 is eight years. His entire era lasted eight years, like Menashe, who was his reincarnation, and he became a heretic. Menashe became king at the age of twelve, and for 22 years he was a heretic. For a period of 33 years, Menashe repented, but for the Jewish people, this already didnât help. The Jewish people continued to worship idolatry. Then Yoshiayu arose and shattered all the idols. The creation of the world begins on 17 Elul, but we count from 25 Elul. 25 Elul was the first day of the creation of the world. Then, 24 Elul was on Shabbat. Seven days before was the 17th, and then Hashem rectified the name BeN. Eliyahu is from the name BeN. âEliyahuâ is the numerical value of BeN (52). The revelation of Eliyahu will be on Rosh Hashanah. Eliyahu is the name BeN mamash, and all the five prayers of Rosh Hashanah are the revelation of Eliyahu, Mashiach ben David, Mashiach ben Yosef, and Kohen Tzedek â Aharon HaKohen, who will come and light the Menorah. All of this will be on Rosh Hashanah. Therefore, we scream, âHashem is God, Hashem is God.â Rosh Hashanah is the preparation for Yom Kippur. Then everything is mercy. Therefore, one is not liable to stoning, but only Karet [cutting off, if one willfully desecrates Yom Kippur], because the very essence of the day atones. Only if a person dies a second before sunset is he liable, but in all other cases, the essence of Yom Kippur atones. During the day [of Yom Kippur], we scream, âHashem is God, Hashem is God.â This begins on 17 Elul. Now [at the time of the shiur] is already the 18th. On the 17th, the rectification of the name BeN, which is the numerical value of Eliyahu, begins. Eliyahu will announce the redemption. Eliyahu will come on Rosh Hashanah to announce the redemption. Therefore, only those who travel to Uman, only those who merit to travel this week to Uman, can bring the redemption. They are the ones who will bring about the entire redemption now. They have a week to sanctify themselves, not to open their eyes. The main thing is guarding oneâs eyes, to not open the eyes, because itâs written in Megaleh Amukot 191 that a person doesnât see a woman, but rather the demons which surround her. After the sin of eating from the Tree of Knowledge, and after the sin of the Golden Calf, the demons surround her. A person with the demon inside him connects with the demon inside her, and then anderamusiyah (chaos) is created. Because ander is the male and musiyah is the female, which is to say that a male demon connects to a female demon, and then there are accidents and terrorist attacks in the world. All the terrorist attacks are because a person opens his eyes. Then there is immediately a terrorist attack. Because the demons enter the Arabs, and these demons are the ones who do the terrorist attack. They are created from the lack of guarding oneâs eyes. A person doesnât see a woman, but rather the demons which surround her. The demon within him wants to see the demoness. Then the demons receive strength and destroy the whole world in one second.  These demons strike every point in the world, and Rosh Hashanah comes to cancel this. Rosh Hashanah comes to cancel all the forbidden gazes and the terrible blemishes, especially internet and iPhones, where one sees the most horrible things in the world, things which were not in the generation of the flood nor in the generation of the dispersal. Even in those generations, there werenât such things that there are today. Today, before the redemption, the tests are the most difficult, because there are such terrible sights. Everyone has idolatry in his pocket [smart phones]. This is the true idolatry. There, one can see the most terrible things that neither Adam HaRishon, nor Avraham, nor Yitzchak, nor Yaakov ever dreamed of. The moment that one sees such a thing [even] one time, he is lost for life. One who stumbles in even one forbidden sight, sees some iPhone, internet, then he is already lost for life. All the days of the world cannot rectify him. He cannot free himself from what he saw. Then no prayer is accepted, and no Divine service ascends above. Therefore, we are now twelve days before Rosh Hashanah. Everyone should accept upon themselves complete guarding of their eyes, whether during the trip to Uman or on the way, when he walks in the streets. Because this is the hardest test of all tests. The moment that we stand up in this test, then we will have Rosh Hashanah.
