A Gathering of Prayer and Outcry at Midnight in Ma'arat HaMachpelah

On the night of the 7th of Adar I, at the hour of midnight, a moving and powerful gathering took place at Ma'arat HaMachpelah in Hebron. Over a thousand Chassidim and men of action answered the call of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a and arrived to entreat in prayer at the burial place of the Patriarchs.

The mass gathering was organized as a "gathering of prayer and outcry" in light of the difficult situation and the persecutions the Rav has been experiencing recently. According to the notices published ahead of the event, the prayer was held "in light of the danger posed to the Rav's life by his cruel persecutors, and at the Rav's request."

"Halleluyah" Piercing the Heavens

During the gathering, the large crowd read chapters of Tehillim (Psalms) with tremendous awakening and recited the prayer of the Tikkun HaKlali. In a video documenting the event, masses of Chassidim are seen clinging to the walls of the cave, singing with yearning and in a loud voice "Halleluyah" and chapters of praise, while begging for Heavenly mercy for the health and success of their spiritual leader.

The complex logistics included organized transportation that departed from all over the country, including Elad and Rosh HaAyin, to allow the masses to arrive and participate in the special prayer that lasted deep into the night.

Unity and Devotion to the Purpose

The atmosphere at the site was saturated with spirituality and dveikus (devotion). Breslov Chassidim, known for their enthusiastic prayers, turned the plaza of Ma'arat HaMachpelah into a focal point of outcry and supplication. The gathering concluded with a strong sense of unity and the hope that the prayers would be accepted with favor and bring the longed-for salvation for the Rav shlit"a.
