Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit”a in an exclusive photo – learning Torah from morning to evening, in his place of residence ahead of the trip to the holy Kibbutz in Uman for Rosh Hashanah.

It’s been some two weeks since the holy community last saw Moreinu HaRav Berland shlit”a, and now, a picture reaches us for the first time to quench our thirst.  Also now, it’s possible to see in the photo as we are used to seeing Moreinu HaRav shlit”a – sitting and diligently learning Torah all hours of the day and night with peace of mind. The image arrives in the context of the preparations of Breslov Chasidim in Israel and around the world before the great yearly journey to the holy city of Uman, the journey in which tens of thousands of Chasidim together with many other Jews, despite all the difficult involved, rise and leave their family and homeland in the middle of the war, travelling the long and complex journey through various countries in order to visit the holy gravesite of the Flowing Stream, Source of Wisdom, Rabbeinu Nachman of Breslov zy”a. The picture arrives amid reports of border closures and the cancellation of tickets for tens of thousands who already had purchased them.  The many difficulties add together and make it very difficult to focus on one’s order of study, especially the daily schedule for the month of Elul. Fortunate are we that we merit in this generation to see living Tzaddikim who put only Torah learning before their eyes – a life of faith and trust, a life of serving Hashem in every situation. We wish all Am Yisrael Shana Tova U’Mvorechet – Ketiva V’Chatima Tova (a good and blessed year – a good writing and sealing [in the Book of Life].
