Minchah and Ma’ariv of Motza’ei Tisha B’Av with Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit”a

“In truth, every Motza’ei Tisha B’Av, a Temple of fire should descend!”  Before is a review of Minchah with Tallit and Tefillin and Ma’ariv of Motza’ei Tisha B’Av with the participation of Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlit”a:

Towards sunset, a 6:50 PM, Moreinu HaRav shlit”a came out for Minchah crowned with Tallit and Tefillin and began “Brich Sh’mei” with the niggun “Yehe Ravah Kadamach” for opening the ark, which lasted for about ten minutes.  Afterwards, he said the entire text for taking out the Torah in a loud voice and called a Kohen to come up.  He then began the Torah reading for Tisha B’Av, “Vayachel Moshe” with the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy.  It’s worth noting that throughout the prayer, Moreinu HaRav was in a state of unusual fervor.  The Haftarah was read by the bar mitzvah boy, Nachman ben R’ Elisha Toledano, who on this Tisha B’Av entered the yoke of Torah and Mitzvot. Afterwards, the Torah scroll was returned to the ark, and Moreinu HaRav shlit”a began the Amidah prayer of Minchah with “Nachem” and “Aneinu.”  At the conclusion of the chazzan’s repetition, the Rav completed the order of the “Song of the Day,” “Kaveh El Hashem,” and the Korbanot, and even continued with “Ana Bekoach.”  Veterans of the community related that they don’t recall a similar event where the entire order of korbanot was recited after Minchah on Tisha B’Av, and that this is a very interesting chidush.  After completing “Aleinu Leshabeach,” the Rav shlit”a asked for a copy of Tractate Bava Batra and began to give over a fiery shiur about Motza’ei Tisha B’Av for some twelve minutes.  At exactly 8:00, Moreinu HaRav began Ma’ariv with the niggunim of every day.  After Ma’ariv, the Rav shlit”a gave over his regular daily shiur.  After the shiur, he sang the songs of Rabbeinu for about ten minutes and then entered his holy home.

May it be His will that just as we merited to mourn together with Moreinu HaRav shlit”a, so may we merit to see the building of our Holy Temple speedily in our days, Amen!
