Moshe Recruited Israel by Force for the War with Midian – Daily Chizzuk by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit”a

THE DAILY CHIZZUK BY MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A – WEDNESDAY, 27 SIVAN 5784 ON EVERY COMMENTARY ON THE TORAH, ON EVERY VERSE, THERE ARE A MILLION KUSHIYOT (DIFFICULTIES OR QUESTIONS). Now there was a commentary with kushiyot about Nadav and Avihu, who walked behind Moshe and Aharon and said about them, “When will these [old men] die off?” It’s incomprehensible.  Even Datan and Aviram did not say such things.  And in another commentary, it is written, “So there were delivered from the thousands of Israel” (Bamidbar 31:5).  The opposite: Israel did not want to go to the army.  They were against the army, but Moshe recruited them by force. Now we need to be in Gaza, to eliminate there a million terrorists every day. It is written, “Take vengeance for the Children of Israel against the Midianites; afterwards, you will be gathered unto your people” – that Moshe should take vengeance against the Midianites and afterwards die.  And afterwards, it is written, “So there were delivered from the thousands of Israel,” because the Jewish people did not want to go to the army after they heard that Moshe would die after the victory over Midian. They said, “If Moshe will die after the war with Midian, then no one will go to war.”  Therefore, Moshe took them by force to the army – “They were delivered.” They fought Midian, “Take vengeance for the Children of Israel against the Midianites.”  Midian was after Moav.  “From Aram, Balak, king of Moav, led me, from the mountains of the east, ‘Come curse Yaakov for me, come bring anger upon Israel’” (Bamidbar 23:7). “Curse Yaakov for me, come bring anger upon Israel.”  No one wanted to go to the army, and Moshe said, “The vengeance of Hashem on Midian,” because Hashem said, “Take vengeance for the Children of Israel against the Midianites,” and Moshe said, “The vengeance of Hashem on Midian.” https://vimeo.com/974768802
